TRB Lightweight Structures has announced it has been selected by Elekta as one of its top 20 suppliers.

The company will manufacture a lightweight flooring solution which will be used in the rooms, or bunkers, that accommodate Elekta’s Unity MR-linac. The specialty flooring can withstand excessive weight distribution and is hinged to allow access to different parts of the machine.

A leader in precision radiation medicine, Elekta says it is committed to ensuring everyone in the world with cancer has access to – and benefits from – more precise, personalised radiotherapy treatments. Elekta’s latest innovation, Elekta Unity, is said to be the world’s first high-field MR-linac and has the potential to transform how clinicians treat cancer.

Andrew Snow, technical sales manager (Industrial) of TRB Lightweight Structures, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with such an innovative and forward-thinking company, and are proud that Elekta identified our lightweight composite products as a real asset to the manufacturing of its products.

“We have previously worked with the company as a supplier for their Gamma Knife radiosurgery system, and to now be selected as a supplier for their Unity MR-linac is excellent. TRB recently attended a supplier day at Elekta’s new UK headquarters in Crawley; it is a most impressive and futuristic building, and the company is clearly investing heavily in its future. We are very proud to be supporting Elekta on this journey.”
