bigHead has solved the challenge of fixing a lightweight carbon shell to Lamborghini’s new Aventador, as the shell was too thin for an embedded insert and incompatible with the rivets or traditional fastening methods. Surface bonded with a structural adhesive, the bigHead fasteners provide a secure mechanical fixing without diminishing its integral strength and stability. Over 50 bigHeads are used to secure the shell and the interior fit-out.
The company, which cites Aston Martin as another of its customers, has seen a steady increase in the use of its bonding fasteners in carbon fibre automotive applications due to their high strength and versatility, which is well suited to carbon fibre. www.bighead.co.uk
