Following the success of the 2012 dinner, the event has quickly become the premier awards occasion for the UK composites industry, and will this year combine all its industry awards in one event. The eight awards which will be given out at the event have been designed to celebrate innovation in manufacture, materials and design, as well as recognising outstanding support in employee development, training, health and safety and environmental initiative. The categories are Innovation in manufacture; Innovation in materials; Innovation in composite design; Employer of the year; Employee of the year; Trainee/Apprentice of the year; Health and safety; Environmental initiative. Chris Little, Chairman of Composites UK said: “The UK Composites industry is at the forefront of technological development and exciting product application both at home and overseas. In an ever-increasingly competitive environment it is important to celebrate our successes. As such the Composites UK awards will showcase some of the key advances made by UK companies over the last 12 months.” The winners of all eight awards will be invited to collect their awards at the dinner. Winners of the innovation categories will also be invited to promote their entries in the main Showcase Area at the Composites Engineering Show over the two days of the exhibition. Cash prizes are on offer to the recipients of the employee and trainee/apprentice of the year awards. Dr Faye Smith, communications director of the association said: “It is important that we shout about our successes as an industry and celebrate what we have achieved year on year. Our awards showcase individuals and companies who go the extra mile to develop the technology and skills needed to highlight the UK as major player in the sector.” www.compositesuk.co.uk
