Atlas Composites is gearing up for a busy few months after winning a prestigious contract with British Cycling to help boost the chances of track success over the coming months.

With the nation full of sporting anticipation, composite components manufactured by Atlas at its 25,000ft2 production facility will hopefully help steer our cyclists to velodrome glory in the summer.

Commenting after his recent site visit to Atlas Composites, individual pursuit gold medallist Chris Boardman MBE, now a research and development consultant for British Cycling, is acutely aware of the value composites engineering can bring to the sport at such a critical time on the track.

He said: “Saving weight in a moveable object reduces the power to move it. A combination of world class frame design, excellent materials and specific lightweight components gives you a bike which feels natural to ride, is comfortable and provides the perfect platform to go on and achieve medal success.”

Atlas’ managing director Shaun Moloney added: “We’re delighted to be manufacturing composite components for British Cycling during such an historic period for the sport and the country as a whole. With Derby City Council recently submitting plans for a new £20m velodrome on Pride Park the future certainly looks prosperous for British Cycling which in turn should see demand grow for high performance engineered composite components.”
