Amber Composites has announced that it has taken delivery of a Blackman & White 2300 conveyorised CNC cutting table.

The new table enables Amber Composites to meet increasing demand to supply cut, kitted, and ready-to-laminate prepreg. Amber has demonstrated that cutting prepreg to required dimensions in a temperature-controlled environment at time of manufacture offers benefits including extended material outlife, reduced waste and reduced labour costs. Amber Composites says it chose the Genesis 2300 because of its reputation for reliability and the productivity of a moving cutting bed. The computer-controlled cutting table offers a multi-tool head carrying rotary or fixed blades, markers, or an oscillating blade which leaves a clean and accurate cut even in Amber’s toughest prepreg. Amber can create the kits from CAD files provided by the customer or by digitizing physical shapes. “Our high-volume customers find significant benefits in receiving pre-kitted prepreg and this addition to our cutting room will help us meet growing demand for this service,” said Jonathan McQueen, managing director of Amber Composites. “The Blackman and White machine has a solid reputation in our industry and tests we have done indicate that it will be highly productive with our materials.”
