Kerry Lyons, business development manager at Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation in Rochdale, commented: “TC350 is really innovative in that it is available as a castable or board solution, engineered to be dimensionally stable in an autoclave up to +180⁰C. Customers can create multiple finished parts directly from TC350, removing the requirement for costly carbon fibre prepregs and improving operational efficiencies.
“The unique castable properties of TC350 mean it can create tooling of any shape or size, from small intricate pieces to large complex designs, without the need for machining, reducing excess material wastage. As part of its value-added services, Trelleborg can provide cast tools from 3-D CAD drawings, for customers that do not have access to CNC machines or with limited capacity.”
TC350 is a specialised high temperature, low density syntactic epoxy tooling board, supporting the creation of parts for use in a range of industries, such as aerospace, automotive and marine. The tooling board is compatible with lightweight carbon fibre, polypropylene, and glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) used in the manufacturing of electric vehicles.
