Scott Bader buys ATC Formulated Polymers

Scott Bader has reached an agreement to acquire ATC Formulated Polymers of Burlington, Ontario, with effect from 4th February 2013.

ATC has a strong reputation for manufacturing a wide range of bonding, tooling, fairing, compression moulding and other polyester and vinylester based pastes, supplied largely into the North America composites industry. This acquisition will make Scott Bader and ATC a global leader in the structural adhesives and bonding pastes business, with a full range of technologies and the manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of composites customers. Tom Johannsen, ATC’s majority owner stated: “I was attracted to Scott Bader because of its wide range of adhesives, its vision to grow this market on a worldwide basis, and its employee-owned company structure. With access to Scott Bader’s products and technology, we will be able to extend our current range of bonding pastes and adhesives, now including Scott Bader’s urethane acrylate Crestomer and MMA adhesives, to suit individual customer needs.” Philip Bruce, Scott Bader’s group managing director commented: “I see this acquisition as underlying our long-term commitment to the North American market by providing customers with local production. I see this as a first step to being able to offer more speciality products into this critical market. The ATC speciality tooling and moulding products complement the Scott Bader range, and we will work to bring winning products to the global market through Scott Bader’s sales resources. I am delighted that we will continue to receive the support from Tom Johannsen, JP Schroeder, Rita Barclay and the rest of the ATC management team to develop the ATC and Scott Bader business going forward.” www.scottbader.com www.atc-fp.com
