ARALDITE 2050 and ARALDITE 2051 are designed to accelerate on- and off-site bonding, even under extreme conditions of temperature and humidity. With the outstanding adhesion performance expected from the industry-leading ARALDITE brand, the new products bring wide-ranging processing benefits to assembly, maintenance and repair bonding operations in the bus and truck, railway, wind and marine industries, along with general industrial applications.
Backed by extensive test data, the next generation two-part acrylate adhesives have been developed to meet the demands of almost any off-site structural maintenance and repair job at any time of the year. ARALDITE 2050 is ultra-fast curing and speeds up bonding when working in temperatures as low as -20°C, as well as under water, in saltwater or in humid climates. ARALDITE 2051 is also fast curing but has a slightly longer open time, making it more suitable for use in warm environments of up to 40°C and in areas of high humidity.
In automated assembly operations, the high cure speed at room temperature increases productivity by reducing cycle times. For customers across the diverse industries that produce high volumes of small parts using fully automated dispensing machines, the new products will support productivity improvements without compromising on bond strength.
“Huntsman has a long heritage in high-performance adhesives and we continue to innovate, as we look to grow our already wide-ranging adhesives portfolio in line with the latest industry trends and customer needs,” said Nastassja Kelley, Global Strategic Marketing Director, Transportation and Industrial. “From speaking with both users and specifiers, it was clear that many are under pressure to achieve gains in productivity, while also facing more challenging applications such as the need to bond mixed materials. Easy-to-use, with little training or surface preparation required, acrylate adhesives are becoming increasingly popular as a result.”
With minimum surface pre-treatment, ARALDITE 2050 and ARALDITE 2051 have been shown to offer high adhesion on different substrates such as metals, composites and thermoplastics. The new range also has excellent resistance to ageing and weathering, including in very wet conditions and when subject to fluctuating temperatures.
Simon Thering, Marketing Manager, Adhesive & Distribution added: “For customers working in demanding environments, we’re proud to have a robust solution that will allow them to speed up bonding operations, without compromising on adhesion performance. Our R&D teams continue to advance innovation in acrylate adhesives, with additional product launches in the pipeline.”
