ThermHex Waben to showcase honeycomb technology at JEC DACH

ThermHex Waben, a specialist manufacturer of thermoplastic polypropylene honeycomb cores for lightweight sandwich panels and composites, is highlighting at JEC DACH (stand B11) innovations that are set to massively contribute to the circular economy.

The Group, consisting of EconCore in Belgium and ThermHex Waben in Germany, focuses on production of PP honeycomb core and PP honeycomb sandwich panels.

The ThermHex Waben team is well advanced in applications across a wide range of industries, including automotive, transport, construction and aerospace. These sectors are developing a growing appetite for lightweight materials produced sustainably.

At JEC DACH, ThermHex Waben will be featuring next to the PP honeycomb cores, new offerings of lightweight PP honeycomb sandwich panels. The PP sandwich panels, an in-line produced laminate of PP honeycomb core and PP/glass fibre skins, are an excellent (up to 80% weight saving) replacement of plywood, monolithic panels and other conventional materials. They exhibit an outstanding performance-to-cost ratio, easy recyclability, and – for applications requiring parts of complex geometries – they can be compression moulded in an effective one-step process.
