Scott Bader and Structural Science Composites (SSC) have signed a five-year partnership for the supply of a Crestapol urethane acrylate resin for the production of composite covers and frames.

The new five-year agreement enables Structural Science Composites to grow its business with a long-term consistent supply of high-performance material from Scott Bader. SSC have been globally supplying the water, gas, oil, electricity and other infrastructure sectors since 2007 and with the new agreement in place, have set a target to double their commercial output over the next four to five years. The supply of Crestapol resin will commence in September 2020 until August 2025.

With Scott Bader’s high performance Crestapol urethane acrylate resin, Structural Science Composites can manufacture covers and frames that are one quarter the weight of concrete covers and one third the weight of iron covers. This significant weight saving reduces handling and health and safety risks and allows for lower transport costs. The closed mould RTM manufacturing process that SSC use is clean and environmentally friendly. The Crestapol resin is fast curing and meets all EU regulatory standards.

Jonathan Stowell, commercial director for Scott Bader, said: “We are delighted to agree a long-term partnership with SSC that further strengthens our already strong relationship. We look forward to working together to produce lightweight, strong composite covers and frames that will benefit markets all around the world.”

Harm Tegelaars, managing director at Structural Science Composites, said: “SSC have worked closely with Scott Bader since 2007 and have enjoyed a fruitful relationship. This new five-year partnership allows both parties to plan their expansion using the Crestapol resin in our entire range of composite covers and frames which are exported all over the world and provide benefits to all our utility sector customers. Structural Science Composites manufacture B, C and D class covers and frames that are permanently anti-slip, provide seal and lock options, are corrosion resistant, can be made conductive or non-conductive and require very little maintenance.”
