Safran Nacelles registers employees to Composites UK’s Composites Assured Practitioner scheme

Safran Nacelles has started 2017 with a huge investment in its employees by registering over 100 of them for the Composites Assured Practitioner Scheme (CAP) at the bronze award level.

Composites UK, the trade association for the UK composites supply chain, developed the CAP scheme to enable companies to map the abilities of their staff against their overarching business development plan. A CAP scheme assessor then suggests the right training options to bridge any skills gaps moving forward, allowing companies to invest in the appropriate teachings, strengthening its core processes and increasing right first time percentages.

Each employee registered for the scheme is assessed against criteria relating to the specific composite manufacturing process they are involved in and awarded a bronze, silver or gold award as they move forward through their career. This information is stored in a personal ‘passport’ by Composites UK. As more companies sign up to CAP this will standardise competency levels within the industry.

Graham Banks, UAP leader (composites) at Safran Nacelles, said: “Safran Nacelles, with the help of Composites UK, has invested in the people of Burnley and the bronze award is a step in our journey to be the world leader in Nacelle manufacture. In 2017 we aim to take 50% of the cleanroom workforce through the silver standard and use this model to find our future leaders of the business. We are very proud of the work we have done with our teams and can already see the benefit in the quality and consistency of product.”

The CAP Scheme is available to member and non-member companies of Composites UK, with members receiving a significant discount on all relating fees. Organisations looking to understand the competency levels of their workforce should contact Composites UK for more information.
