Programme announced for Confidence in Composites event

Composites UK has launched the programme for its first Confidence in Composites event, taking place on 15th and 16th October in Oxford.

The event will look at the non-destructive evaluation, structural health monitoring and repair of fibre reinforced polymer composites during both manufacture and in-service.

Partnering with the American Composites Manufacturers Association, the abstracts submitted for this event have been peer reviewed by:

  • Robert Smith, Professor of NDT and High Value Manufacturing - British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing

  • Uday Vaidya PhD, Chief Technology Officer, IACMI-The Composites Institute

  • Ajay Kapadia, Knowledge Transfer Manager - Composites - Knowledge Transfer Network

  • Rob Rose, Engineering Capability Lead and Responsible Level 3 | Non-Destructive Testing - National Composites Centre

  • Holly Phillips MBE, Principal Naval Architect - Royal National Lifeboat Institution

  • Richard Freemantle, Director, Wavelength NDT, Chair of BINDT Composites Group

Claire Whysall, communications manager at Composites UK said: “This new conference takes an in-depth look into how composite materials can be monitored, and as the title suggests, aims to increase the confidence in the use of composites over alternative materials such as steel or aluminium.

“We are thankful to those on our reviewing committee for supporting us in the putting together of this excellent programme of speakers.”

Presenters at the event include GKN Aerospace, the National Composites Centre, TWI, the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and Lloyd’s Register, with companies such as Olympus, Inductosense and Baugh & Weedon NDE exhibiting.

Registration is open and sponsorship/exhibition opportunities are available. Details on these can be found on the conference website.
