NGCC unveils Architects' Day at 2013 Conference

Network Group for Composites in Construction (NGCC) has announced an 'Architects' Day on Thursday 12th September which will look at the use of fibre-reinforced polymer composites in structural applications.

Advanced Composites in Construction 2013 Conference organisers, Network Group for Composites in Construction (NGCC) has announced an ‘Architects’ Day on Thursday 12th September which will look at the use of fibre-reinforced polymer composites (FRPs) in structural applications. Now in its sixth year and taking place from 10–12 September 2013 at Riddel Hall, Belfast, the NGCC says it has identified a lack of information available to architects about FRPs. “Educating architects in the use of FRPs is one of our top priorities at the moment,” said the NGCC’s coordinator, Claire Whysall. “The benefits that composite materials bring - including being lightweight, durable and requiring little maintenance - means that FRPs should be considered alongside traditional construction materials in the early stages of design to release their maximum potential. “There have been some amazing structures built recently using FRP, and I’m positive that the ‘Architects’ Day’ at ACIC 2013 will encourage more architects to consider specifying composites.” Architects’ Day is being offered at the discounted rate of £145.
