Dark Matter Composites has launched a set of portable dust extraction units particularly suited to the removal of dust generated carbon fibre dust (conductive) and glass fibre dust (an irritant), where contamination of the work area can be a serious hazard. The company’s ‘M’ and ‘H’ class extraction units are supplied with boom arm assemblies, conductive co-axial hoses, venting safety couplers and hose dust closures as standard. These units are particularly suited to use both in production as well as site work, including hazardous areas such as hangers, with fuel present, and other areas that have airborne contamination. Dust-free operations have been proven for repair, sanding and drilling operations when combined with Dark Matter’s ‘Step Sanding Tool Kit’, orbital sanders and drill kits, even on vertical surfaces. Meanwhile, Dark Matter Composites has some upcoming courses for your diaries:

  • 16-20 June: DMSC54, Prepreg Laminating – Stage 1, covers the intricate detail associated with processing prepreg materials applied to laminates.
  • 23-27 June: DMSC56, Prepreg Mould Making, Preparation, application and finishing of prepreg tooling materials using tiled and templated laminating methods to produce composite tooling.
  • 30 June-4 July: DMSC57, Trimming, Finishing & Assembly of Composites, Selection and use of the right tools, abrasives and extraction for post-processing a range of materials.
  • 7-11 July: DMSC61, Composite Materials & Processes for Engineers & Designers. Dark Matter’s most popular and intensive course to date provides an intuitive approach to composites.
And for anyone wishing to get the best out of their trimming operations, try Dark Matter’s course DMSC57: Trimming, Finishing & Assembly of Composites. www.darkmattercomposites.co.uk
