Oxford-based automated composite tooling company, Mouldbox has been shown recognition by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK.

The agency has endowed a grant for the purpose of developing its novel machine learning platform and design-to-product composite tooling service.

“This Innovate UK grant will really enable us to fast track Mouldbox development, allowing the benefits to quickly feed back into any and every sector of the industry,” stated Mouldbox’s CEO, Martin Oughton. “Our objective now is smooth service execution and, as the system continues to learn, we can focus the time saved on providing our clients with exceptional service.”

Stuart Banyard of KWSP added: “With high performance, time critical situations and excellent quality at the heart of everything KWSP are involved in, being involved with Mouldbox is solving a big problem with fast turnaround, high quality and competitive composite tooling prices. Mouldbox has already disrupted our traditional supply chain and the potential benefit to the industry at large is huge. We’re thrilled to have been on board from the beginning.”

Garry Scott of The National Composites Centre said: “The Mouldbox concept strongly aligns with the NCC key objectives and Industry 4.0 developments. It’s great to see such creative problem-solving within the industry and we’re very pleased to be supporting them.”

Stella Job of Composites UK stated: “We are delighted to welcome Mouldbox as a new member of Composites UK. Mouldbox provides a unique service which promises to save time, our highest value commodity, for manufacturers at the same time as providing a high-quality tooling service. The machine learning capability is impressive.”
