This year’s newly-expanded Construction Material Pavilion will showcase state-of-the-art applications during METSTRADE 2018.

This year’s METSTRADE Show, said to be the world’s largest B2B trade exhibition for leisure marine equipment, will take place in RAI Amsterdam on 13-15 November.

As a truly international B2B exhibition for the marine leisure industry which has served as a platform for innovation, market developments and networking since its launch in 1988, METSTRADE also caters for three specialist sectors, namely superyachts, marinas and yards, and composite materials. This achieved through the event’s three specialised pavilions, each offering a smaller self-contained show within the larger METSTRADE Show context.

One of the centrepieces of the event will be the newly expanded Construction Material Pavilion, which forms a platform for a wide range of themes and activities. This will include Round Table sessions on materials and methodologies and rapid prototyping and 3D printing and the MaterialDistrict pop-up on the theme of ‘New Luxury’.

Organised under the auspices of the METSTRADE Show, the Construction Material Pavilion (CMP) has been a major specialist platform for raw materials and composites within the leisure marine industry since 2013. The CMP has been growing at a healthy rate every year, attracting thousands of innovative yacht builders, naval architects, interior designers and other marine industry professionals.

For the 2018 edition, RAI Amsterdam has further expanded the floor surface area in the Elicium. Already fully booked, the pavilion will host 60 exhibiting companies, eight more than in 2017. Pierre Calmon, export director at Resoltech Epoxy Resins, sums up the CMP perfectly as “by far the best place to meet our customers from all over the world – and find new ones!”

Launched last year, the Round Table on Boat Construction and Materials discusses the most relevant subjects related to new materials and construction techniques for a wide range of yachts and other boats. This year’s edition will focus on rapid manufacturing and 3D printing, providing a stage for an impressive roster of participants from many different countries and disciplines, including Luca Olivari (from OlivariEng), Valerio Corniani (Diab) and Jeroen Wats (G-Force Yachts).

A prime opportunity for engineers and yacht designers to exchange knowledge and ideas, the Round Table will also allow the public to interact with the speakers to gain a better understanding of the latest techniques and methodologies.

Another returning feature in 2018 will be the Construction in Process Stage, which shows live demonstrations of production processes. The success and growth of CMP mean this stage will be organised again at the same location, and at least all the same companies will participate as last year.

Another highlight of the CMP will be the MaterialDistrict pop-up (formerly Material Xperience On Tour), a comprehensive showcase of raw materials organised by the world’s leading matchmaking platform in the field of innovative materials MaterialDistrict.

The MaterialDistrict pop-up at METSTRADE will cover all three days of the exhibition on 13, 14 and 15 November. The theme will be ‘New Luxury’ and be entirely dedicated to materials for yacht building. It will be organised in the Elicium with 12 partners and exhibit 120 specially selected new materials.
