Hypetex partners with SHD to provide coloured prepreg solutions

Hypetex partners with SHD to provide coloured prepreg solutions

Hypetex, award winning innovators and one of the global leaders in carbon fibre colourisation technologies, and SHD Group have partnered to supply Hypetex coloured fabrics with SHD’s MTC epoxy resin systems.

This partnership will see Hypetex’s novel cosmetic finishes offered in combination with SHD’s widely adopted range of prepreg systems.

Hypetex’s colourisation process can be applied to a variety of reinforcement fibres including carbon, glass, aramid, and even natural fibres, and offers customers a selection of aesthetically appealing finishes across many industry standard fabric formats. For non-standard solutions, Hypetex will also work closely with development teams, creating innovative and tailored formats to meet customer’s specific design requirements.

SHD, through manufacturing sites in the UK, Europe and USA, are well-established suppliers of high quality structural and cosmetic prepreg materials to the automotive and high-end leisure industries. In particular SHD’s MTC500 series prepregs are renowned for their quality and consistency on highly cosmetic carbon fibre parts.

Combined with MTC systems, Hypetex coloured materials offer end customers not only unique visual component finishes but also, in certain applications, the potential for weight and cost savings. Both businesses have similar focus on sustainability and are working to ensure advanced material technologies do not come at a cost to our environment.

Commenting on the partnership, Marc Cohen, CEO at Hypetex, said: “We are excited to be working with SHD, a leader in their field, offering the very best resin systems available with our colour technology.”

Helen Doughty, director at SHD Composites, added: “Working with Hypetex provides the opportunity for all our customers to access this unique colourisation technology and the benefits it can bring.”
