Huntsman Advanced Materials (stand M31, hall 6) will highlight its portfolio of innovative composite, adhesive and syntactic solutions for enabling lightweighting in a wide range of applications at JEC World 2018.

Combining market-leading chemistries and processes, the company will demonstrate its extensive expertise for improving composite performance and development, to help businesses respond to the ever-changing needs of both the automotive and aerospace industries.

Building on its theme ‘Chemistry for Lightweighting’, Huntsman Advanced Materials will bring its automotive capabilities to life through a series of finished parts from leading global OEMs. With over 60 years’ experience developing composite resin and adhesive technologies, the company has extensive knowledge in creating cutting-edge chemistries for increasing processing and production efficiency, as well as overcoming complex design challenges. On its booth it will showcase its comprehensive range of high-performance solutions for all structural automotive applications, from individual components such as a carbon hybrid composite wheel to a complete full-functional composite motorcycle frame, BMW HP4 Race.

Alongside its finished product demonstrations, highlights on the stand include hybrid and fully composite leaf springs for both heavy- and light-duty vehicles. The exhibited parts are powered by Huntsman Advanced Materials’ leading Araldite chemistries to provide significant weight reduction benefits and excellent fatigue properties in severe conditions, while meeting mass production requirements. In addition, a number of parts on the booth have been manufactured using its Resin Transfer Moulding process for the mass production of lightweight composite components. These can be seen on the booth as proofs of concept and include a Roding Automotive door shell with excellent structural performance, as well as a new SUV Electric Vehicle engine hood that increases the driving range of electric cars.

Throughout the event, Huntsman Advanced Materials will also further demonstrate its commitment to the aerospace industry with its wide range of established solutions and processes. Collaborating with leading global companies for over six decades, Huntsman Advanced Materials has extensive experience in producing advanced, high-quality materials for the fabrication, assembly and repair of interior and exterior applications.

At JEC World, the company will focus on lightweight interior aircraft components, including demonstrating how its Araldite chemistries have been used to create a commercially-available lightweight seat-back with inherent fire performance properties that can achieve a 20% weight saving. In addition to composites and adhesives, visitors to the booth can learn more about the company’s range of syntactics for robust sandwich structures with reduced weight. Huntsman Advanced Materials will also co-sponsor the Aerospace Planet, where it will once again host its conference titled: Innovation and Trends in Aerospace on Wednesday 7th March between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Nastassja Kelley, marketing director EMEAI at Huntsman Advanced Materials, said: “Across the automotive and aerospace industries, there is ongoing demand for new and innovative composite solutions, as we continue to move towards the mass production of lightweight components. At Huntsman Advanced Materials, we provide a wide range of chemistries and processes for manufacturers to address these key challenges in both sectors.”

Laurent Pourcheron, EAMEI marketing manager aerospace at Huntsman Advanced Materials added: “In particular, the conference at the Aerospace Planet will bring together leading professionals from the industry, to highlight the latest developments in the market and the essential role composites play in such applications. Collaborating with a panel of valued experts demonstrates our commitment to listening to the needs and opinions of our partners and customers, so we stay ahead of the latest market trends.”
