On March 4th at 5pm, Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme will invite machining professionals to another one of its online technical seminars: ‘Effective machining of high-performance carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic composite materials’.

The seminar will focus on the high-performance composite material, Toray Cetex TC1225 available from the manufacturer Toray Advanced Composites. The material will be machined on a milling centre from the Italian machine manufacturer, CMS. Participation in the Virtual Masterclass is free of charge, the presentation language is English.

Thermoplastic composites such as Toray-Cetex materials have great advantages, but also place particular demands on the machining process. Only the perfect interaction of tool, machine and machining program ensures machining can be achieved without the need for additional reworking.

The Hufschmied Virtual Masterclass will focus on the settings and tools used to achieve burr-free and delamination-free cuts and surfaces, and will then document this with videos of the machining process. The presentation will show the 5-axis machining of Toray Cetex TC1225 with the Hufschmied 065SMCS and will detail the unique geometry and diamond coating of the tool.
