Hexcel Corporation will exhibit at the Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture show in Dusseldorf from 10-12 December and will promote two key technologies for wind blade manufacturers that address the growing need for reduced production times and increased throughput.

HexPly Surface Finishing Prepreg provides a ready-to-paint blade surface without using an in-mold coat. The benefits include no procurement of gel coat, elimination of the coating process (with savings in logistics, storage, equipment), lower labour costs, and faster production. The production cycle is considerably reduced with a minimum 2-hour takt time saving.

Polyspeed Pultruded Carbon Laminates were developed for load-carrying elements in a blade structure and are manufactured with a polyurethane matrix that provides outstanding mechanical performance in terms of stiffness and durability. The blade manufacturing process is optimized, with increased throughput. The pultruded laminates are supplied in coils as continuous cross section profiles.

Hexcel is a leader in the development and manufacture of composite materials and has more than 25 years of experience providing solutions to wind blade manufacturers using different processing routes including prepreg, infusion and co-infusion. Hexcel provides local support on a global scale with dedicated sales, R&T, technical support and wind energy manufacturing facilities in Austria, the US and China.
