Editor's comment: All in this together

Welcome to the latest issue of Composites in Manufacturing. I’ve written a few editorials in my time, writing comment on the new and innovative technologies making big waves in the UK composites industry.

Yet none have ever matched the circumstances surrounding the words I write for you now. I refer to the coronavirus pandemic that is currently sweeping the world. These are unprecedented times, and no-one knows what our immediate future holds with things changing on a daily basis. Indeed, I write in my kitchen because like many of you, we’re all confined to working from home, whilst some of my work colleagues have been put on furlough.

What I can tell you is that we at Composites in Manufacturing will continue to do our very utmost in bringing the best coverage of the UK composites scene, both in the pages of this issue and through our website. We are here to support you, our readers as I hope you’ll support us by reading the magazine.

And we’re also here to support the wider manufacturing industry, the material suppliers, the subcontractors, the government bodies, and those who work tirelessly behind the scenes while we tackle the current crisis.

Recently, we’ve seen an unprecedented response from the British manufacturing industry in providing ventilator components that help meet the needs of medical services like the NHS. It once again proves how adept at adaptation our engineering community really is.

And we’ll all need to be adaptable in tackling any hurdles placed in front of us in order to get the magazine printed and on your desks. We may possibly have to make some small changes here and there to ensure that. The important thing is that we keep connected and support the UK composites industry and one another, because we’re all in this together.
