Cristex has been awarded Employer of the Year at the Composites UK Industry Awards Dinner. A fantastic achievement to recognise all the hard work that has gone in to create a workplace where employees feel valued and cared for.

Danielle Roseler, HR and marketing manager commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award, we have worked hard over the past few years implementing our internal engagement strategy, from wellbeing Wednesdays which includes yoga, smoothie making and more, to employee of the month to name but a few.”

Cristex Composite Materials exhibited at Advanced Engineering UK for its eleventh consecutive year. The show took place on the 2-3 of November 2022 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Scott Singleton, operations manager commented: “The show was a great success, and we got the opportunity to meet with new and existing customers as well as network and engage in conversations about some of the latest developments within the composites industry.”

Cristex alongside its suppliers, Saertex, Angeloni Group, Elantas and Eurocarbon had a range of materials and systems on display.

Saertex had a key focus on the development of sustainable composite materials, featuring flax fibre as part of its non-crimp fabric range. The company’s recent collaboration with Terre Di Lin aims to make a significant contribution towards minimising the consumption of non-renewable resources and fossil fuels. Flax fibre is a renewable resource, with minimal environmental impact during processing.

The Angeloni Group focused on woven fabrics, decorative fabrics and stabilising webs. Such webs are the next generation of stabilising technology and can be applied to fabrics to prevent fraying when being cut and shaped, without adding significant weight.

Elantas showcased their range of epoxy resins systems and adhesives for a variety of manufacturing methods, such as hand layup, vacuum infusion, hot press and RTM.

Thermoplastic coatings and composites

Generally, composites, such as glass fibre and carbon fibre, are popular materials among manufacturers because of their light weight and mechanical properties compared to traditional materials, such as steel and aluminium. Composites can also be designed to take advantage of special coatings that help aid their integration into a product while improving functionality. Patrick Loock, segment business owner for products and applications at composite tubes and profiles manufacturer Exel Composites, discusses how composites manufactured with thermoplastic functional coatings can allow more control of properties such as friction, adhesion, and finish.
