Cristex exhibits for 10th year at Advanced Engineering show

Cristex exhibited at the Advanced Engineering show for the tenth consecutive year. The show is the UK’s leading annual advanced manufacturing and supply chain event.

The show took place from 3-4 November at the NEC in Birmingham. Cristex featured a comprehensive range of products and applications from suppliers and customers, suitable for various markets such as aerospace, automotive, marine and construction to name a few.

With a key focus on the marine and rail industry Saertex displayed finished applications which have utilised RTM methods to create lightweight, timesaving composite products. The feature piece for the rail industry was a train station platform from ‘Development Composite’ which uses SAERfoam to create a lightweight alternative to concrete with a quick installation process. Cristex also displayed an engine cover for the Bali Catspace Catamaran which comprised of SAERcore, SAERfoam and SAERfix.

Angeloni Group featured the decorative fabric range which is widely used across various markets. Alongside this, Cristex featured customer applications from Tillett’s and Urban Automotive to showcase the fabrics on finished applications. The Tillett’s B7 racing car seat featured on the stand is the world’s lightest FIA 8855-1999 homologated race seat. The skin of the seat comprises of a surface layer of 200gsm 3K carbon twill, backed up with carbon multiaxial fabrics and infused with an epoxy matrix. This design allows for a rigid structure to be formed whilst keeping the weight to a minimum of 3.7kg.

Cristex also featured a range of other products from partners, Eurocarbon showcased a range of woven tapes, tubular and flat braids that are mainly used in the composite industry. Elantas Europe displayed various epoxy resins and adhesive systems for the manufacturing of composite parts.

One of the main focuses on the stand this year was the tailored kit cutting and slitting and rewinding service that Cristex offer the composites industry. With our recent investment in the Ribamatic, Cristex is now capable of slitting rolls of fabrics up to 3.5m into narrow width tapes.
