Composites UK announces 2014 conference details

Composites UK, the official trade association for the UK composites industry has announced the details of this year’s conference and annual general meeting. Titled ‘Providing Business Support to UK Industry’, the event takes place on 13–14 May 2014 at the National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol, and will focus on specially selected key topics, supplying delegates with the latest composites industry intelligence. “As the official trade association for the composites industry it is important for us to really support the core needs of our members, and be a voice for the industry as a whole,” stated Composites UK’s communications manager, Claire Whysall. “Our annual conference not only allows us to inform and educate delegates on current market trends, developments and challenges, but it also gives us the opportunity shout about and celebrate what amazing things UK companies are achieving with composite materials.” Invited speakers will present on topics such as the current standing of the UK industry, opportunities facing the UK manufacturing industry, sector challenges, successes and how the UK supply chain needs to be developed and supported. There are optional additional workshops on ‘Design for Business Growth’ and ‘UK Support for Export’ as well as a tour of the NCC facilities. The 2014 Annual General Meeting will take place during the conference at 16:30 on 13th May, also at the NCC, where member companies will be informed of developments within the Association and will be notified of the Board of Director election results. Composites UK will continue the tradition of coinciding the Annual Conference with its Charity Dinner, taking place on the evening of 13th May at the Holiday Inn, Filton, which is around 10 minutes from the NCC. The dinner in the past has raised hundreds of pounds for charities such as Cancer Research, Diabetes UK and Parkinson’s UK thanks to raffle prizes donated through the generous support of its members.
