Shape Machining has recently commissioned another Faro laser scanning inspection arm as part of its continuous improvement programme.

Managing director, Peter McCool, said: “It has always been important for us to ensure that the quality of the patterns we machine is exemplary. We achieve that by rigorous quality control procedures. Part of our standard process is to fully 3D scan all the patterns we machine.

This additional Faro arm ensures that our inspection capacity matches with the recent increases in machining capacity. Our customers demand the best quality machined patterns and that is exactly what we deliver.”

The Shape Quality department consists of two Faro laser scanning arms, two large surface tables and four inspector/operators.

Shape works to the quality standard ISO 9001 and constantly invests in new equipment and software to stay at the forefront of technology. The company supplies high quality patterns to all sectors of the carbon composites industry.

Shape Machining specialises in machining metallic tools, epoxy tooling block patterns, Rohacell foams and the trimming of carbon fibre parts for the automotive, motorsport and aerospace industry. It offers a full range of design, analysis and project management services to support composite part and tool manufacturing projects.

Shape Composites supplies thermoset and thermoplastic composite preforms and parts ranging from bespoke autoclave cured carbon parts to larger volumes of hot pressed formed carbon parts.
