David Phipps, Head of Carbon Fibre Development at Airbus has been confirmed to speak at the event covering the use of composites within the company and its supply chain. GKN Aerospace will present its work on the VIEWS project – Validation and Integration of Manufacturing Enablers for Future Wing Structures – alongside Sheffield Hallam University and Warwick Manufacturing Group.

The event will start with the present standing of the wider aerospace industry with presentations from Jeegar Kakkad of ADS and Clive Lewis of Achieving the Difference, including the effects of Brexit and the current and future opportunities within the industry. Later in the day, Mark Summers of the Aerospace Technology Institute will share details of its growth programme, with Dr David Bailey of the Northwest Aerospace Alliance giving an insight on how non-aerospace manufacturers can become suppliers to the industry.

The day will end with practical case studies of exterior and interior applications from Electroimpact UK, Composite Integration, M Wright and Sons, Composite Innovations, TenCate Advanced Composites, Metrology Software Products, Ipeco and Heraeus Noblelight.

Claire Whysall, Communications Manager at Composites UK said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with the aerospace industry on this event to determine what they need from the composites supply chain and how companies can get involved. Through the case studies and table-top exhibition stands, those in the aerospace industry also have the opportunity to see what composites innovations are out there and how these can be utilised in new ways.”

Registration is taking place via the Composites UK website. Discounts are available for Composites UK members and those of partner organisations (Northwest Aerospace Alliance, National Composites Centre, Midlands Aerospace Alliance, Royal Aeronautical Society and AMRC). Very limited table-top exhibition space remains.
